I’d been looking for a color laser printer for home use after moving my previous one to the office, so I decided to give this model a try. I don’t print in color every day, but it’s helpful for things like diagrams, instruction guides, and design layouts.
This machine definitely feels more like a small business printer than a home unit. It’s built for higher print volumes, works quickly, and offers solid networking features. Setup was straightforward using the front display, and connecting it to Wi-Fi was smooth. I also appreciated being able to assign it a simple local network name directly from the control panel. High-capacity toner options are available, which fits its business-focused design.
That said, size is something to seriously consider. The printer is very heavy—around 50 pounds—and not easy to move alone. It’s also fairly large, making placement tricky. It doesn’t fit comfortably on a standard filing cabinet or many desk shelves without extra support. If space is limited, you’ll want to measure carefully before buying.
Print quality is acceptable for everyday documents, but not outstanding. Text looks fine, and general office prints are decent. However, I noticed some uneven color consistency in larger color areas. Photo printing, which isn’t really a strong point for most color lasers anyway, is below what I’ve seen from other models. It works for regular office tasks, but it’s not ideal if you care a lot about image quality.
The biggest drawback is the ongoing supply cost. Replacement toner is extremely expensive, especially OEM cartridges. Even third-party options aren’t cheap. Since the printer ships with starter cartridges, you’ll likely need replacements sooner than expected. When you factor in the cost per page, it becomes difficult to justify compared to other brands that offer lower printing costs and similar or better output.
Overall, it performs adequately and feels solid, but the high running costs make it hard for me to strongly recommend.
